Being a member allows you to join in all the activities we provide. Our members participate in projects throughout the month such as Show & Tell, Block of the Month, Coffee Chat, Travel, Zoom Sew Ins, Retreats, In-Person Sew Ins and enjoy a monthly program consisting of speakers or social activity at our General Meetings. As a member, our monthly newsletter will outline all the activities, and our website Calendar makes sure you don’t miss anything!
Block of the Month
We’re giving our Block of the Month program a makeover for the 26/27 year. Megan Farrell, our Secretary, and a published quilt designer and teacher, has designed 12 blocks, one for each month of the year starting in September. These blocks will all be 12″ finished blocks. You can make one for the guild and, if you choose, you can make an extra block for yourself each month and put them together as a sampler.
Megan will provide drawings and directions for each block and will have a picture of her completed samples. She will also provide a possible layout for the Sampler. If you want to make your own blocks for a sampler, and want to have the same background fabric in each block you will need 2 yards of background fabric.
You will get a raffle ticket for each block you turn in. The winner (or winners depending on how many are turned in) will receive all of the blocks that have been turned in. These blocks will be yours to use to your heart’s content. If you would like to put the blocks together and donate them back for our community projects, please assemble, quilt and bind and then turn in. Of course you can always keep the blocks for yourself or for other projects. Because the blocks will be 12″ finished, they can be used for quilts, pillows, placements or table runners. If you would like help with ideas for project construction, Megan will be happy to help you with any questions you have.
We will have fabric requirements and pictures available on the website, and Megan will have samples of the blocks to look at during our monthly meetings.
Coffee Chat
We meet online via Zoom twice a month to sew together and learn various techniques that inspire our creativity in working with fabric. Members join together from near and far to participate. Patterns used are posted online under our password protected Patterns tab. Members receive the password each year to access this list. We chat, share Show & Tell and ask questions to help us along on our quilting journey. The Zoom link is listed at the bottom of guild emails so you can always find it. SHOW & TELL
Show & Tell is an inspiring part of the monthly meetings. At the end of the program, members get to come up and “show and tell” about any quilt they have finished or are currently working on. Everyone from a beginner quilter to experienced share their quilts to the guild. Such great stories and inspiration are gathered by viewing all the wonderful quilts!
