SJVQG Interest Survey Results & Planning

Trip Coordinator: Marianne Jones

Hey fellow quilters,

Here’s an update on the Travel Interest Survey we did at the March 2024 meeting and planning to date.

  1. Pacific International Quilt Festival (PIQF), Santa Clara, CA, Saturday, July 27

24 people said they are interested in a one-day trip to Santa Clara for PIQF. At first blush, it looks like the transportation cost would be prohibitive. I’m still checking and will have more information soon.

  1. Central Valley Quilt Hop (Sept 12-14).

A bus for this trip will definitely not work. Some of the shops do not have adequate parking or turn-around space for a bus. Carpooling with friends is a better option.

  1. Country Heritage Tour, New England (spouses, partners, friends welcome).

Description: Sept 28 – Oct 4. A seven-day, six-night New England sojourn blending history, culture, and quilting. From Boston’s landmarks to Vermont’s serenity and Maine’s coastal allure, this journey promises artistry, craft, and culinary wonders, painting a vivid picture of New England’s multifaceted charm and heritage.  $2695 Per Person/Double Occupancy; $950 Additional/Single Occupancy. $200 non-refundable deposit. Airfare on your own (approximately $1000 per person).

7 people have expressed interest in this trip. Moving to next planning steps.

  1. San Joaquin Valley Quilters’ Guild Fall Serenity Quilt Retreat. October 2024 (dates TBA) Description: A weekend (3 days, 2 nights) at a retreat center in the mountains. Location to be determined. The focus will be on relaxation, comradery, and fun. Price will include lodging and meals.

19 people are interested in a fall retreat. I am in the process of finding a location. I will have an update soon.

  1. Roger Rocka’s Dinner Theater: Production is Legally Blonde

Sunday matinee, December 8. Cost: $68 per person (includes dinner, show, and tip) $30 deposit to reserve seat.

21 people are interested in this event. I have reserved up to 30 seats for our group. I will let you know when deposits are due. Additional members, friends, spouses, and partners welcome.

If you haven’t already filled out a survey, and you’re interested in any of the activities described above, let me know as soon as you can, as planning is underway and knowing the numbers of participants is really important. You can email me at [email protected]

Thanks for your interest in and support of guild activities.
